What is a Gas & Petrol Mileage Calculator?
A Gas & Petrol Mileage Calculator is an online tool used to measure a vehicle’s fuel economy by comparing the distance travelled with the amount of fuel consumed.
The calculator can display fuel efficiency in several standard units:
- Kilometres per Litre (km/L)
- Miles per Gallon (MPG – US)
- Miles per Gallon (MPG – UK)
- Litres per 100 Kilometres (L/100 km)
It can also estimate:
- Fuel Required for a Trip
- Trip Fuel Cost
- Cost per Kilometre
- Cost per Mile
- Estimated Driving Range
Fuel economy is generally calculated by dividing the distance travelled by the amount of fuel used.
How to Use the Mileage Calculator?
Using the calculator is very easy.
Step 1
Enter the distance travelled.
Example:
420 km
Step 2
Enter the fuel consumed.
Example:
28 Litres
Step 3
(Optional) Enter the fuel price to estimate trip cost.
Step 4
Click Calculate.
The calculator instantly displays:
- Mileage (km/L)
- MPG (US & UK)
- Litres per 100 km
- Fuel Cost
- Cost per Kilometre
- Estimated Driving Range
Fuel Mileage Calculation Formula
1. Kilometres per Litre (km/L)
Mileage (km/L) = Distance Travelled (km) ÷ Fuel Used (L)
Example:
420 km ÷ 28 L
= 15 km/L
2. Miles per Gallon (MPG)
MPG = Distance (Miles) ÷ Fuel Used (Gallons)
Example:
300 miles ÷ 12 gallons
= 25 MPG
This is the standard formula used for fuel economy calculations.
3. Litres per 100 Kilometres
L/100 km = (Fuel Used ÷ Distance Travelled) × 100
Example:
28 L ÷ 420 km × 100
= 6.67 L/100 km
A lower L/100 km value indicates better fuel efficiency.
4. Fuel Required Formula
Fuel Required = Distance ÷ Mileage
Example:
600 km trip
Mileage = 15 km/L
Fuel Required:
600 ÷ 15
= 40 Litres
5. Trip Fuel Cost Formula
Trip Cost = Fuel Required × Fuel Price
Example:
Fuel Required = 40 L
Petrol Price = ₹105/L
Trip Cost:
40 × 105
= ₹4,200
Example 1 – Calculate Mileage
Distance:
450 km
Fuel Used:
30 Litres
Mileage:
450 ÷ 30
= 15 km/L
Example 2 – Calculate Fuel Needed
Distance:
800 km
Mileage:
20 km/L
Fuel Required:
800 ÷ 20
= 40 Litres
Example 3 – Calculate Trip Cost
Fuel Required:
40 Litres
Fuel Price:
₹110/L
Trip Cost:
40 × 110
= ₹4,400

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is fuel mileage?
Fuel mileage (fuel economy) indicates how far a vehicle travels using a specific amount of fuel. It is commonly expressed as km/L or MPG.
What is a good mileage for a petrol car?
A petrol car delivering 15–20 km/L is generally considered fuel-efficient, though actual mileage varies depending on driving conditions and vehicle type.
Why is L/100 km different from km/L?
km/L measures the distance travelled per litre of fuel, while L/100 km measures the amount of fuel required to travel 100 kilometres. Lower L/100 km values indicate better efficiency.
Is this calculator free?
Yes. DigiSadhan’s Gas & Petrol Mileage Calculator is completely free to use on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

इसके बाद आपको तुरंत सभी परिणाम प्राप्त होंगे।
गणना का सूत्र
माइलेज (km/L)
माइलेज = कुल दूरी (किमी) ÷ कुल ईंधन (लीटर)
MPG
MPG = दूरी (मील) ÷ ईंधन (गैलन)
L/100 km
L/100 km = (ईंधन ÷ दूरी) × 100
40 × 110
= ₹4,400
